Our team has designed the UK’s Best Show Home for first-time buyers!
At the First Time Buyer Readers’ Awards last Friday (6 September), our industrial-inspired design for The Bridget showhome was announced the winner of the Best Show Home category. Situated on St Modwen Homes’ West Works development in Longbridge, Birmingham, the two-bedroom Bridget is a fantastic starter home.
BBC broadcaster, Nicki Chapman presented the award, telling the audience of over 400 property professionals that the judges chose The Bridget because it was “a masterpiece in design.”
The judges report also stated how “the show home embraced the brief of honouring the site’s history as the MG Rover factory site while also using furniture that was sourced from stores where a first-time buyer would typically shop. This combination made the interiors not only inspirational but gave an idea of what could be achieved on a limited budget.”
Now in their 14th year, the First Time Buyer Readers’ Awards celebrate the people, companies and innovations that help aspiring homeowners take their first steps on the property ladder. One of the most hotly contested categories with six finalists, Best Show Home rewards the design that is furnished using first-time buyer products and within a typical first-time buyer budget.
“This category is all about showcasing a home to its maximum potential and giving first-time buyers a realistic insight into what they can achieve,” comments our director, Steve Hird. “Our original brief was to attract a millennial/Gen Z demographic and acknowledge the development’s manufacturing heritage.
“Using varied styling techniques and an impactful monochrome/rich tobacco colour combination, we were able to illustrate how first-time buyers can achieve eye-catching, Instagram-worthy finishes. Deliberate design choices such as different wall treatments and focal points along with furniture and artwork from retailers that are established ports of call for first-time buyers ensure The Bridget’s interiors are packed with affordable and easy to replicate ideas.
“We’re absolutely thrilled that this approach caught the attention of the judging panel and as we embark on our tenth year in business, cannot think of a better celebration than to say we have designed and installed Britain’s Best Show Home for first-time buyers,” adds Steve.
The First Time Buyer Awards were held at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square and fundraised for The Lighthouse Club via a charity auction. Winners were featured in a property special in the Metro.
