Yes, two very contrasting styles to offer house hunters plenty of inspiration! The Holden has a rustic country appearance with contemporary detailing whereas The Avondale is bolder and more overtly elegant, including vibrant Fornasetti-inspired homeware.
In keeping with its opulent design, The Avondale has a rich and timeless colour palette of navy, ecru, gold and black. Our starting point for this was inspired by the mermaid patterned wallpaper in the downstairs cloakroom; it really makes an impact, even in the smallest room!
In The Holden, the design embraces soft greys and neutrals alongside blush pink and natural woods. Softer, pastel shades are on trend this year, and really add warmth to neutral décor.
The Holden has two distinctive rooms. On the ground floor, the room that would typically be used as a study is styled as a sewing room, with the idea that one of the parents living here has their own craft business, perhaps started during the lockdowns. This incorporates space to be creative but also a second desk and shelving for business admin.
The Holden’s other distinct room is a bedroom for twin girls. The size of this room could easily accommodate a double bed but we’ve styled with two singles, each with a handmade painted house headboard. A woodland wallpaper mural fills one wall and pink scalloped edge painting makes this a haven for sisters.
In The Avondale’s home office, the feature wall behind the desk has a striking half height treatment including a dado rail and wallpaper with a pattern showing different architectural styles. This, coupled with the dark wood furniture, black accessories and leather chair, makes a statement study.
Stonebridge Fields is nearby Sherwood Forest so we imagined the families living in The Avondale and Holden would enjoy being outdoors and connecting with nature. Both homes feature botanical prints and patterns, and in each one we themed one of the children’s bedrooms with an outdoor design. The Avondale has a wildlife/woodland bedroom with a bumble bee motif including honeycomb headboard while one of the Holden’s bedrooms has a fantastic cycling theme with a wallpaper mural and bicycle inspired accessories.
There’s also a sports centre nearby, so using this as inspiration we styled a bedroom in the Avondale with a skater theme, including an oversized skateboard headboard!
The Avondale’s kitchen/diner is a true entertaining space, and in here we’ve been able to comfortably include an 8-seater dining table but also cleverly used some of the wall height and ceiling space to make a bespoke bar area!
