Last Friday, Megan Doherty and Rebecca Jones were pleased to lead a special ‘Meet the Designer’ event at David Wilson Homes’ (North West) Maylands Park development.

Meg and Rebecca hosted the Aston & District WI for a ‘behind the scenes’ visit and tour of the showhomes as well as a presentation about our designs.

During the ‘Meet the Designer’ event, Meg and Rebecca gave the WI group insight into interior design techniques and current trends, as well as demonstrated how mood boards are used to plan a cohesive design, including pairing together different fabrics, materials and patterns.

Irene Williamson, Secretary at Aston and District WI, said: “Megan and Rebecca were excellent hosts, explaining the layout of both showhomes and the ideas behind the way the decoration, furniture and furnishings had been selected. Everyone was very impressed and came away with some very good ideas. A very big thank you once again for all the preparation you put in to make our visit very enjoyable.”

Meg added:“This event was the first time we have collaborated with a local WI group, and it was such a fun experience! Our aim was to showcase as much of the design process as possible, beginning with discussing the brief and inspiration behind the show homes. We then divided into smaller groups to lead tours of both show homes, explaining in more detail how our design choices translate into a real-life setting.

“These tours gave us a chance to connect with WI members, whose thoughtful questions sparked lively conversations and brought a real buzz to the afternoon. We’re really pleased to hear the WI found it so inspiring!”
