It was a busy October for our client account team as they travelled across the country to handover showhomes and sales offices, add festive flair, attend industry events, and support the next generation of housebuilders. Read on for October’s ‘Out of the (Show) House’ activities…

October started with a short journey across our home city of Birmingham to the NEC, where Steve Hird, Georgina Rose and Hannah Yueng attended the Retirement Living Show. As well as meeting new furniture suppliers to support our growing retirement portfolio, the trio was also able to congratulate all the Retirement Living Awards winners, including our clients McCarthy Stone and Retirement Villages.

Things then took a festive turn, as Sam Jones joined the Gleeson Homes team at Poppy Fields, Lincolnshire to handover a trio of Christmassy showhomes we installed to help house hunters get in the festive spirit!

Rebecca Jones and Estelle Palmer grabbed a quick stop at the Angel of the North following a successful showhome handover with Bellway Homes (North East) for Meadow Croft, Longframlington. Rebecca was back on the road again to Radcliffe on Trent to witness the opening of the Sherbourne customer suite, a sales centre we designed for new client, Spitfire Homes. This also marked Spitfire’s first ever development in Nottinghamshire – congratulations team!

Steve Hird received positive feedback on our designs for Bloor Homes’ Wharncliffe Park showhome in Deepcar, South Yorkshire and McCarthy Stone’s penthouse apartments at Violet Place in Bagshot, Surrey. We were pleased to hear both had successful launch events too.

Back at our HQ, Andy Richardson, Estelle Palmer, Megan Doherty and Sam Jones hosted an open day for 11 trainees from Bellway Homes (West Midlands). To learn more about the sales side of housebuilding, the trainees were given a tour of our design studio and presentation about how showhomes contribute to the sales and marketing mix. Bellway’s sales director, Marie Richards joined the day and remarked how insightful it was for the trainees to learn about the different disciplines within a design agency and their relationship with the wider housebuilding industry. Personalised mugs and pizza for lunch ensured everyone left with a smile!

There were no spooky surprises for Halloween but instead rather a spectacular black-tie evening in London at the 20th annual Housebuilder Awards for Steve Hird, Sam Jones and Rebecca Jones. It was pleasing to see so many of our clients win awards, particularly McCarthy Stone for Best Retirement Scheme and Keepmoat for Large Housebuilder of the Year. Congratulations to all the winners and highly commended companies.

Oh, and we made some REALLY exciting progress on the future for Edward Thomas Interiors – more on that next month!
