We have recently completed one of our largest ever showhome designs for longstanding client, David Wilson Homes.
In the sought-after village of Burley in Wharfedale, West Yorkshire, we have designed and installed a spectacular five-bedroom showhome on David Wilson Homes’ Imperial Court development.
At 2,515 sq ft, the Lichfield represents one of the largest house types we have ever designed.
“The Lichfield is an impressive property,” says our director, Andy Richardson. “Extending across three floors, it has a thoughtful layout which enables family members to have their own sanctuaries as well as space to spend time together or entertaining. We wanted to emphasise this balance while simultaneously creating a striking, sophisticated aesthetic that would appeal to the target demographic.”
Our design for the Lichfield was developed specifically to suit the purchaser profile and location. Inspiration was drawn from the stunning countryside and moors, while a lifestyle was imagined of an affluent family, with a teenager and younger child, who enjoy an active social life.
Andy continues: “The colours and textures in this home are all very natural, so include shades of blue, green, soft grey, stone and cream alongside botanical prints and patterns to reflect the outdoors. Oversized pendant or chandelier-style light fittings create drama, while a variety of wall and ceiling treatments including elegant panelling give the Lichfield a statement country feel.
“To make the home even more memorable, we proposed a variation on the standard woodwork to paint all doors, door and window surrounds, skirting boards and balustrades in a beautiful sage green, which was a first for David Wilson Homes and really helps elevate the home’s luxury look.
“Some of my other favourite features include:
- the study, which has a bespoke, full-height bookcase complete with rolling ladder;
- the first-floor landing where we installed a fitted window seat as a cosy spot for reading or making phone calls;
- the top floor ‘den’ with its two curved sofas and wall-mounted TV that makes an amazing teenage hideaway;
- the incredible primary bedroom, which occupies half the first floor and is styled as a sophisticated retreat for parents.”
David Wilson Homes’ sales director, Sam Wood adds: “Edward Thomas Interiors has excelled with this showhome. The feedback we’ve received from our sales team and colleagues from other regions has been overwhelmingly positive, with some even going so far as to say it’s the best showhome they’ve seen in decades. “Andy and the team had a real vision for how the Lichfield could be brought to life and demonstrated some original thinking to achieve this. It now benefits from both impressive
